15-7Mo Sheet (AMS 5520)

Precipitation Hardening Stainless Steel

15-7Mo stainless steel sheet offers good corrosion resistance.

15-7MO is part of the precipitation hardening steel family of steels. It offers a similar composition to 17-7PH but with 2% more chromium, which results in higher strength both at room and elevated temperatures.

The alloy represents a semi-austenitic precipitation-hardening stainless steel with good corrosion resistance, superior to similar hardenable stainless steel grades.

Product Details

15-7MO combines impressive hardness and strength and does not suffer from distortion after additional heat treatment. The workability of the alloy depends on the delivery condition. The material may be formed similarly to 301 stainless steel in condition A and offers comparable spring back characteristics. Condition C requires further consideration due to the extreme strength and hardness of the alloy, and therefore use of different fabrication methods should be adopted. 15-7MO retains high strength at elevated temperatures making the product suitable for many aerospace applications.

Our product offers similar characteristics compared to 17-7PH but with improved all-around performance.

Use in Aerospace & MRO

Typical material applications include aircraft bulkheads, structural panelling, retaining rings, springs and aerospace components.

Specifications

15-7MO sheets are manufactured according to the AMS 5520 specification and are available in thicknesses ranging from 0.016" and 0.187".

We supply 15-7MO sheets directly from stock and offer a guillotining service where we cut your sheets to size. If you wish to have added protection during transit, we also provide a vinyl coating service where we coat the sheet with a thin peel-away film to prevent the material from being scratched.
